Volunteer Opportunities // Call to all!
Are you a retired teacher or other professional? Do you have hobbies, interests or skills that you would like to share? Considering joining with members of the Economic Justice & Social Concerns Committee in volunteering to work with the children at Gateway-Longview -- our next-door neighbor & home for disadvantaged children.
All kinds of assistance are needed: mentoring, tutoring, skills sharing or just helping with school operations, reading, playing games, etc.

our monthly events calendar.

VOICE-Buffalo
Unitarian Universalists have long been an important part of community dialogue and social action. The UU Church of Amherst has always been part of the movement. Our participation in VOICE-Buffalo affirms this committment.
VOICE-Buffalo affirms that the pursuit of the common good is the fundamental organizing principle of a good society. All citizens of our neighborhoods, city and region deserve the opportunities and resources to live in healthy communities. Any church member can attend the quarterly VOICE meeting. Pat Burke

Feast of the Tables
This is one of the two major fund raisers that VOICE Buffalo holds each year. It is in its 3rd year and has been very popular - good food, great chances to win theme baskets, and activities for children make for a great evening. Each church that belongs to VOICE creates a theme table of food items.
Social Concerns / Economic Justice

Social Concerns / Economic Justice Committee
This committee is actively involved in social justice issues in our community. Working with the UU Board of Trustees, members organize collections of goods & monies to promote the health and well-being of our community. Charities have included: The Peace Center, Sr. Ann Marie Zon for Nicaragua, WNY Food Pantry, Gateway-Longview Center, and many others. If you are interested in changing the world, come join us!
Cell phone collection
Thus far, we have collected 24 used cell phones that have been donated to Haven House, a transitional living center for women & children in domestic crisis. UU member Bunny Malone has been overseeing this effort.

Fair Trade Coffee - Orders for Fair Trade coffee will be taken on the first Sunday each month after the service, for delivery the following Sunday.
